Birds of A–Z feather

I challenged myself as part of the 36 days of type event to create a decorative typeface based on something I love within a single theme. Inspired by the wildlife of my home country of South Africa. I crafted geometric letterforms of birds, some familiar and others less so with the aim of educating on unfamiliar or endangered species. Having literally hundreds of options per letter to choose from lead to hours of drawing and refining each character.

These were well received, and though my intention was not to sell them, I’m exploring options such as complete and individual prints, a small run book and collection of enamel pins. Using the same grid, I created a geometric sans serif font to be used on the pin packaging
